Refining industry. Elastic-damping supports for pipelines.

Client and Task:

One of Russia’s largest oil refineries approached us with the task of designing and manufacturing elastic-damping supports for process pipelines. The supports needed to ensure that the vibration amplitude of the pipeline remains within permissible levels and to compensate for thermal movements.

Operating Conditions:

• Loads up to 1,500 kg;
• Thermal displacements up to 15 mm;
• Pipeline temperature: 135°C;
• Allowed vibration amplitude: 0.2 mm.

Solution:

We designed and manufactured elastic-damping supports with the required stiffness based on VMT-350 cable vibration isolators.

Result:

Vibration measurements at control points after installation showed that the vibration amplitude of the pipelines remained within allowable limits. An additional advantage was simplified installation, as the supports work equally effectively in both suspended and supported configurations.
