Railway Track Maintenance Vehicle Level Sensor Vibration Isolation Platform

Client and Task:

A manufacturer of railway track construction and repair equipment approached us with the task of designing a vibration isolation platform for the level sensor of a track maintenance vehicle. The platform needed to protect the sensor from impacts at rail joints while the vehicle is moving, and from vibrations generated by the equipment operating on the machine during track repairs.

Solution:

We designed an initial version of the platform; however, operational testing revealed that during movement, the sensor together with the platform inclined at approximately 45°, causing it to strike suspension components and leading to failures. Therefore, we developed and manufactured a second version of the platform, which took this movement characteristic into account.

Result:

The second version of the platform successfully passed all tests and was adopted for use in the equipment.
